Overview

Contested Spaces is a series of five sculptures created using a broad range of digital technology and composited into filmed settings around the city of Belfast, Northern Ireland. The five 'digital' sculptures should inspire and incite further commentary. The tension between the real and virtual should create debate around the notional value of the spaces, their perceived ownership, and the degree to which that ownership affects the attitudes of those that use them.

The project was conceived by the design company Frank, and each of the five sculptures created by different members of the studio's design team.
